The Bible Translation Fund

Of the 7,000+ languages spoken around the world, over 3,000 have little to no Scripture. What can be done?

The Strategy in a Nutshell
The Problem

A world still waiting for God’s Word

The Solution

A breakthrough movement to provide God’s Word in every language for every people group

“After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands.”

Revelation 7:9

Let’s chat

We would love to walk you through the strategy behind the fund. Join us for a next-step conversation designed for prospective givers.

01:The Problem

Nearly one billion people are trapped in the darkness of Bible poverty. Without Scripture in the language of their hearts, people are cut off from the foundation of Faith itself.

3,000+
languages with little or no Scripture
500
people groups without a single verse in a language they best understand

Out of more than 7,000 languages worldwide, over 3,000 have little or no Scripture, and around 500 people groups don’t have a single verse in a language they best understand (source: illumiNations).

Translators are moving Scripture into new languages every day. The work needs technology, training, and time. These efforts require training, technology, consulting, and community review to ensure accuracy and clarity.

Along the way, they face barriers. Language and complexity: grammar, cultural nuance, and theological depth require expertise and careful review. Time and resources: translation takes years of steady work, significant funding, and local commitment. External pressures: political, social, and logistical challenges can either speed up or slow down progress.

A united movement of translators and partners is driving progress at unprecedented speed, and now needs global support to finish the work in our lifetime. The Solving Bible Translation Fund exists to support these efforts.

02:The Strategy
The Solution

Unity meets radical acceleration

In 2014, Bible translation organizations and a group of visionary partners set aside competition for collaboration, joining forces through illumiNations. Following Stanford’s Collective Impact Model, adapted for Kingdom purposes, they launched:

A breakthrough movement to provide God’s Word in every language for every people group.

Bible translation work

Eleven organizations partner under illumiNations: American Bible Society, Biblica, Deaf Bible Society, Lutheran Bible Translators, Pioneer Bible Translators, The Seed Company, SIL International, The Word for the World, unfoldingWord, United Bible Societies, and Wycliffe Bible Translators USA. Three forces are converging to make Bible translation in our lifetime possible:

01 · Technological Breakthroughs

With the use of AI, working drafts arrive in minutes, not decades. In 2024 alone, 100,000 chapters were translated, double the year before.

02 · Validation in Action

Collaboration in 2024 produced 26 Bibles, 82 New Testaments, and 15 Scripture selections, reaching 80 million people and proving this approach works (source: ProgressBible).

03 · Content is Leveraging Its Reach

Testimonies, prayer, and media are rallying the global Church behind the vision of Bible translation in our lifetime.

Never before have technology, unity, and global Church mobilization aligned with such Kingdom potential.
Why Now?

Momentum is surging

Through illumiNations, the timeline for translation has accelerated dramatically. Just ten years ago, more than 1.8 million Bible chapters were untranslated. Today, fewer than 680,000 remain.

This is a generation-defining opportunity. But awareness is still a barrier: fewer than 5% of people know about this unprecedented collaboration.

The goals by 2033
01

99.96% of the world’s population will have access to a New Testament, or an equivalent portion of Scripture.

02

100% of the world’s population will have access to some portion of Scripture, an estimated 25 chapters.

The progress so far
01

Ten years ago, more than 1.8 million Bible chapters were untranslated.

02

Today, fewer than 680,000 chapters remain.

03

At this pace, complete global access is no longer just possible: it’s expected in our generation.

The Opportunity

Amplify the support

The Solving Bible Translation Fund exists to support these efforts. Through content, connections, and collaborative giving, we rally behind translators, ensuring every tribe and nation hears God speak in their own language.

This fund works to fuel illumiNations’ translation projects, reaching the 604,000 chapters remaining.

This isn’t just charity: it’s active participation in the Great Commission. Every dollar moves us closer to the day when every person on earth encounters Jesus in the language of their heart.

03:Initial Allocations

The Solving Bible Translation Community and Fund supports the work of illumiNations, the collaborative movement providing God’s Word in every language for every people group. This fund works to fuel illumiNations’ translation projects, reaching the 604,000 chapters remaining. Members of each fund receive quarterly reports and updates, providing visibility into the progress and activities of the fund.

The Power of Building, Investing and Giving Together

The Solving Bible Translation Fund

SWGP Giving Funds unite world-class portfolio management with the Faith Driven content and community you trust, transforming generosity into impact.

God calls us to radical generosity: not obligation, not guilt, but an invitation to the joy-filled adventure. When you’ve been rescued you want to rescue others, this is your moment.

You want to give. You want to find that cause to rally around. But we don’t have the time or tribe to be intentional.

Busy lives don’t leave room to analyze every investment or vet every charity. We’re overwhelmed, pulled in a hundred directions: wallets clenched, hearts tugged, minds skeptical. Deep down, we know there has to be a better way. That’s why we’re building collaborative giving funds, uniting content, community, and tools that make it possible to do more, together.

Independent Strategic Review: Every 2 Years

We are committed to excellence and transparency, which is why we engage independent third-party organizations, including Calvin Edwards & Company, All Access International, and Brightlight Impact, to evaluate our work. Every two years, each fund undergoes an external review made available to prospective donors and partners. This review outlines the fund’s theory of change, portfolio analysis, governance, operations, and grantmaking practices. It also reviews investment activity and verifies the accuracy of reporting, ensuring donors can give with confidence and clarity.
