ADDRESSING THE MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS
Our mental health has never been worse. Over 1 billion people globally experience depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues. What can be done?

PHILIPPIANS 4:6-7

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Kay Warren shares about the Gospel and mental health at Transformation Church.
Suicide rates have risen by about 30% since 2000.

The rise in anxiety and depression and related mental health disorders has been fueled by the emergence of social media, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the weakening of churches and other critical social institutions.

The mental health crisis grows more dire, with teens– and particularly teen girls—showing unprecedented levels of stress, anxiety, and suicidal ideation. From youth to pastors to entrepreneurs, we are in need of serious help.

Mental health is essential and we celebrate the decreasing stigma associated with mental illness. And, we know much more needs to be done to meet the unique challenges of this moment.

Shawn Johnson – The weight of perfection

The Gospel and Mental Health

Kay and Pastor Rick Warren’s son struggled with mental illness for years. Eventually, at age 27, Matthew took his life “in a momentary wave of despair.” Kay shares about her son’s courage to keep on living in his darkest moments despite his pain.

The Walk It Out Challenge

Processing stress and trauma can be as simple as taking a walk. Venessa Garrison and Morgan Dixon are on a mission to encourage women to get outside and do just that. Already, millions have taken them up on the challenge to walk it out.

Shawn Johnson: The Weight of Perfection

Failure. That’s how a lot of the world saw Shawn Johnson in 2008. She was supposed to be the next great American gymnast and take home a handful of gold medals at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. When that didn’t pan out, her mental health began to suffer. Hear Johnson share how God ultimately gave her freedom.
